Agentic AI for intellectual property

🌐 stilta.com 📍 Unspecified 👥 4 people
B2B

Stilta builds agentic AI software for intellectual property, starting with patent litigation. Whether challenging or enforcing a patent, leading IP law firms and in-house IP teams use Stilta for source-backed, auditable analysis. Innovation drives the world's most important breakthroughs, but the tools that protect it haven't kept pace. Patent attorneys do high-stakes work with a process still built on manual document review and disconnected point solutions. Generative AI helps with drafting, but it doesn't deliver the trust and transparency that legal-grade work demands - no sources, no traceability, no audit trail. Stilta takes a different approach. We use agentic AI to run search and analysis at a scale manual methods can't match, with every output source-backed, referenced, and auditable. Until recently, this wasn't technically possible. We're four engineers from McKinsey/QuantumBlack who built and deployed AI systems at some of the world's largest organizations. With Stilta, we're equipping the people who protect the world's most valuable ideas with tools that match the stakes.

Score Breakdown

Team 10/10

Exceptional technical depth and pedigree. Multiple founders with prior YC experience, strong backgrounds at Google, Meta, and Stripe, and advanced degrees from top institutions like Stanford and KTH. Oscar Adamsson's blend of product leadership, entrepreneurial experience, and consulting on innovation is a significant asset. Tobias Estreen's experience leading agentic AI teams at QuantumBlack is highly relevant. Petrus Werner's CTO role with a strong engineering background rounds out a very capable team. Market 8.5/10

The IP legal tech market, particularly patent litigation, is a massive and underserved area ripe for disruption. The reliance on manual processes and disconnected tools presents a clear opportunity. While the TAM is substantial, the adoption cycle for legal tech can be long, and regulatory shifts, while potentially tailwinds for AI adoption, can also introduce complexities. The timing is good as AI capabilities mature and the legal industry becomes more open to technological solutions. [Boost +0.5: Hot sector: ai]

Product 7/10

The concept of agentic AI for source-backed, auditable IP analysis is technically differentiated and addresses a core pain point. The comparison to 'Claude Code experience' for patent practitioners highlights a clear vision for UX and usability. The defensibility will come from the quality of the AI models, the data they are trained on, and the integration into legal workflows. The platform potential is significant if they can expand beyond patent litigation to other IP areas. Current UX quality is an unknown but the ambition is high.

Traction 5/10

As a Winter 2026 batch company, traction is expected to be nascent. The YC backing is a strong signal of early validation. The mention of 'Cursor for Patent Practitioners' suggests early product development and potential early user engagement or beta testing. However, concrete revenue, user numbers, or significant partnerships are not yet evident, which is typical for this stage. Investor interest is implied by YC acceptance.
